ABOUT

Climbing is a sport that is growing in popularity globally. It provides an excellent way to enhance one’s self-confidence, enjoy a healthy workout and discover a supportive community.Promoting inclusivity and accessibility in climbing can yield positive impacts on both the climbing community – by fostering increased diversity, social integration, and personal growth for all involved – and on migrants and other ethnic minorities through facilitating the development of their social skills and enabling their inclusion in society.Creating a more inclusive and diverse sport benefits everyone.

Climb it UP is a 24-month project, funded under ERASMUS-SPORT-2023, which aims to promote inclusion in and through climbing.The specific objectives of the project are:• To generate new knowledge regarding the benefits of climbing on the development of soft skills and social inclusion;
• To raise the awareness, capacities and skills among members of the climbing community and the involved organisations with the goal of making climbing a more inclusive and diverse sport;
• To use climbing as an educational tool for developing soft skills and for promoting the social inclusion of migrants/ethnic minorities;
• To raise awareness about the benefits of climbing for social inclusion and promote engagement for a more inclusive and diverse climbing community.

How will we achieve our goals?

The implementation of the Climb it UP project is devised in 3 main implementing phases that will last from November 2023 until October 2025. Project Management and Dissemination Activities will run horizontally throughout the project duration.

Who can participate?

The project targets the following groups:

Migrants and Ethnic Minorities

This project offers an opportunity for migrants and ethnic minorities to enhance their soft skills by participating in a newly developed climbing programme which will be tested in all partner countries.

Climbing Instructors / Professionals and Climbers

They can improve their skills and capacities through a capacity-building pro-gramme aimed at making climbing more inclusive and diverse.

Social Workers

Through participation in a training course, they can develop both soft and hard skills to use climbing as an educational tool for social inclusion.

Partnership

The Climb it UP project is a collaboration between six partner organizations from five European countries. Meet our team who are passionate about making a positive impact through climbing.
